David Imamura was elected to the Westchester County Legislature in February 2023 and is the first Asian American County Legislator in Westchester’s 400-year history.  David served as interim Majority Leader of the County Legislature in 2025 and now serves as Chair of the Litigation Committee.

David grew up in Irvington and now lives 500 yards from his childhood home.  David lives in Irvington with his wife Kathleen, his five year old son, and his two year old daughter.  David is a voting rights lawyer and was the lead attorney on the first two cases ever under the New York State Voting Rights Act against the Towns of Mount Pleasant and Newburgh.  There, David successfully joined with the black and Hispanic communities to change the electoral systems in both towns to allow them to elect candidates of color.

David previous served as Chair of the New York State Redistricting Commission.  He is a graduate of Dartmouth College and Columbia Law School.  

David is running for re-election to continue representing the 12th County Legislative District:

• Parts of unincorporated Greenburgh, including Edgemont and Hartsdale
